A few years ago genetic testing got a lot of feedback and now it’s starting to make an impact with teams. Simple and quick tests get a lot about the potential of the athlete, but not everything can be measured via DNA strands. Heart is often linked to religious beliefs, or good parenting, something that is not found in your genes. Right now the infamous Lambert Table is going for big bucks in Russia and Italy, but talent is also a curse with the lazy habits if things come to easy for the athlete. It still requires a good coach to find ways to motivate and compromise personalities as athletes are not horses. I am eager to see how genetic testing evolves as Big Data could be another monkey wrench in making it practical. Talent is important, but at the end of the day everyone on the starting line has it. The real advantage is handling talent, and good coaches have the natural knack for doing so.
