even if your coach was a bad timer, you still probably came around the 200 in 23 high, 24 low. thats probably a little too fast based on your 200m time. Instead, tryin to come around the 200m at around 25s, hold that pace for another 50m, then open up the throttle and give it everything you’ve got left for the last 150. see if that helps your times at all.
If it makes you feel better, I did the same thing my first couple of 400s this year. First one, I came by in 22 high (three people all had me clocked at around 22.8ish) which is a good sized 200m PR for me 🙂 And I wound up finishing the races in around 53.5. Then I started to ease back that first 200 a bit, came by in around 24.5ish, and was runnin 51 mid the next meet.
