This entry is more for yesterday than today.
Today I went out to run and it was absolutely freezing. I even had on layers and couldn't warm up for nothing, no matter how much I did or whatever, and when I tried doing some 100yd tempo runs, I noticed I wasn't getting full ROM on anything, so I just cut it off to avoid injury.
Yesterday I did the 40yd program again, but I had to do it on the track (in alignment with the field lines) since the field was soaking wet and slipping would be too much of a problem. But, I noticed some interesting observations….
Positive: When I was doing my flying 20's and 30's, I noticed I was really flying. My GCT was next to minimal and I've never felt like that before when running. Everything seemed to fall in place. I hate lying starts, so I tend to start off a bit funny, but still did pretty well. Great warmup = great workout. Wasn't as cold this day as it was today. I'm seeing micro-improvements day in and day out and that's what I'm liking. I notice that form is only affected when I'm not warmed up properly (usually due to cold weather) and so everything falls apart. But, when I get my good warm up in (like today), I notice everything works perfectly and I can really fly.
Negative: Nothing except that I'm probably going to postpone my start season 1 week so I can have more time to get the money for my gym membership (so everything goes together). Nothing as far as working out and such.
Also, with work, my new schedule from now until the season is…
Tuesday – Hills (GS)
Wednesday – Tempo
Thursday – Hills (sprints and such)
Saturday – 40yd program
Sunday – Tempo (if it's not too cold since I'll have to go in the mornings)
So, I think that'll do good to get me back in shape for the season since my work schedule keeps changing and I have to make changes to accomodate it.
Tomorrow I have to get my check and so I'll take the day off, but Tuesday I'm going hard again, so I can't wait. To be updated…
P.S. – Get the new Korn album ("Take a look in the mirror"). Definitely worth the money. They're finally getting back to their old, good sound, rather than the commercialized stuff they've put out the last two albums. Sorry…selfless promotion. 😀
