Well, after what was, to me, a disappointing meet, I decided it's about time to start growing some b@!!$ and pushing myself more. One thing I don't think I did was keep myself moving in practice. The 300m splits were getting too easy so, after talking to others, I decided to start extending the distance of the first rep and making the total distance 400m moving up to 500m probably.
The good things I took out of Friday were obviously the improvements in time. I still dropped .5 off my 400m time and over .3 off my 200m time, so that's something to be excited about. Though I only TIED my PR's, this week I know I'll break them, no doubts. I'll be running for probably the next 3 weeks including this weekend, so we'll see how much I improve.
2×250/150 (1 min / 10 min)
1 – 32.81 + 20.85 = 53.66
2 – 33.18 + 21.47 = 54.65
As you can see, I've been babying myself too much in practice cos I'm not really in THAT good of shape to drop almost 1 sec from the first rep to the second. My goal was and is to be able to hit both of the 250's in about 32 (soon to be down to 31/30ish). I'll be doing 250's for a couple weeks before moving on to 300's and then possibly on to 350's before starting with SE2.
Time is running out quickly so I put that in my mind today when I was on the track. No more playing around and no more excuses. :splat:
Sessions like today mixed with meets should easily set me down to about a 52/51 by the end of this month. May 1st I'll be running the 400m so I'm hoping to be down to at least a 52 by then, maybe even 51. I have 2 more 400's before then and 3 200's, so I think I'll be good to go, but I'm not going to set myself up for disappointment anymore. One day at a time…
I did a Seagrave warm up today and actually felt pretty good. I think I'm going to make it my permanent warm up. My hammies are still spazzing on me (very upsetting), but they have yet to affect my actual running, just the warm up, so it's cool. Form was good and relaxation, and everything was just in place today except for the speed that I don't quite have yet, but will be getting soon.
I am better and much more PREPARED after today….
