This is kind of an aside but it may help to explain why 7 days a week for some athletes can be so effective:
I’ve seen some unpublished research on how 15-20 minutes of very easy running is the BEST modality for CNS recovery. The research indicated that it was better than massage, contrast bath, cold pool, sauna, complete rest, etc. The subjects were elite level speed-power athletes but the same may very well be true for all athletes.
