This is an interesting question and one I’ve given a lot of thought to over the years after seeing this type of phenomenon. I don’t have a full answer but here’s how I’ve reconciled it. The reason these seemingly “opposites” can coexist is because they have slightly different elements:
*miscellaneous soft tissue compliance / impedence (fat, fascia)
*interaction of CNS and muscle tone
*muscle isometric / quasi-isometric strength
*tendon elasticity (not quite the opposite of compliancy)
*reactivity of CNS and collagen fascial matrix
Also since one is end ROM and the other is not I don’t think they are opposites.
