That’s interesting. I had actually told Adam that he needed to do that 6 years ago but he was adamant about not changing. His old technique was really a classification all it’s own. It was not a rotational spin technique (like Godina, Cantwell, Hoffa) or even a linear spin technique (ala Dan Taylor). It was what I called a wrapped spin technique and it was really a combination of a short-long glide technique and the spin technique. I actually had to create a completely new optimization model for Adam’s old technique.
It will be interested to see how he throws with his technical modifications. I know his coach and she’s very good but I’m curious to see:
*Whether there’s enough time to fully learn the technique.
*Whether the new technique will become unstable in competition / pressure situations.
*Whether he’ll be able to throw further with the modifications.
