The common wisdom for track seems to be high-rep low-intensity for abs.
The abs serve a stabilizing role so most people figure why try to add another high stress movement.
I know CF believes in high rep abs almost like a form of tempo.
Myself for lifting, I have switched between the two. I have to say it is hard to set up for a truly max effort 10-rep set of abs. I have some weighted ab exercises that I will do for say 15-20 reps. After I cycle through about three of these exercises peaking them over say 6 weeks, then I go back to higher rep stuff for a while.
