For todays workout im not sure what im going to do yet, my legs are VERY tight still from the past couple of days.
So for some history:(i dont mean to make excuses i am trying to give reasons)
LJ- 20’6 only had about 10 – 15 (i dont remember ) jumps in real meets – i have hit low 21 in practice b4
Discus – 127 (three coaches in four years)
Shot put – 43 feet
300 hurdles – 44.31 (i never ran all season, ill explain later)
I have a coach in college. Also, my workouts will be very similar to Babojumper, as we are on the same team.
I have done track for four years at the high school level, with a history of track success in Massachusetts, which more or less means that as a young thrower i got no attention. I was a very large kid my freshman sophomore junior and part of my senior year. During Feb. of my junior year i weighed in at 215. I was not happy with that, at the time all i did in track was shot put indoors and shot and discus outdoors. My senior year outdoor is where i started to excel at what i was doing although i faced many obstacles. I went into the season around 182ish. I began the season focused on discus, and with an idea i wanted to try the 300 hurdles because we had a spot open on varsity. Also i was still going to do shot put to finish the limits of what i could do in a single meet. My throwing coach did not let me practice hurdles except doing them the day before the meet when i would do a run through of three hurdles. I also one day tried long jumping for fun, and realized i could jump 20 feets with ease. Then came a tug of war between my coaches as to what events i could do. My throwing coach wanted me to stay with him for shot put, when i wanted to do long jump. I only got to jump in a few meets, and i think that i have a lot of potential for the long jump.
Some history on injury’s:
I broke my right thumb, (throwing hand) kept me from most of my freshman year outdoor track.
I badly tore my right knees meniscus the fall of my junior year.
My freshman year i had back problems caused by tightness of my muscles in my legs. It caused me serious back problems. I always get wary when i start to get very tight.
I think that im going to take a day off today and do speed tomorrow. I might go for a light jog just to loosen up. I am definitely going to do a long stretch today either way.
