I was being sarcastic. The guys who have jumped at the same level or further than Dwight are clearly much, much weaker, yet people are making a big deal about Dwight obtaining a 325lb powerclean @ 185lbs.
As I said, people can achieve these strength levels without coming close to using 290lbs or even 275lbs (~85%) for the majority of their workouts. I have, other people on this site have, and overall, it really isn’t that crazy of a proposition nor is it even that impressive. We’re talking about a guy who is a lean 185lbs, has been training for athletics most of his life, worked with coaches who know how to teach the Olympic lifts, and is a genetic freak. You think he really needs that much work to powerclean 325?
While it may not be impossible for him to be able to achieve a 325lbs powerclean without “coming close to using 290lbs or even 275lbs (~85%)”, being the “genetic freak” (?!?) that he is, I deem it highly improbable that he’d attempt to lift 325lbs without the proper preparation. I could ask an elite weightlifter/coach and a couple of competing strongmen what kind of strength increase progression they know/think is possible under the aforementioned circumstances. I’ll probably be able to do that on Friday.
