In what way? Elaborate please. The entirety of this thread has been a debate over training methods conducive to high level performance in sports other than weightlifting and powerlifting. I don’t think anybody has said that possessing high strength numbers is anything but a positive thing; once again the debate is over training loads and the emphasis placed on max strength.
I think if you look through the thread there are quite a few comments from quite a few people indicating that weight room numbers mean almost nothing. Whether this was this was the intended message or not may be up for debate but there’s no doubting that myself and several others (Nick, Star, etc) at least had this impression.
Nick, yourself, and Star feel that way because people don’t actually read what is being said and make ASSumptions.
On their own, they do mean almost nothing. Within an individual and within the context of a program, they might, but that’s it. There are probably dozens of people right now who can’t powerclean >300lbs like Nick, but LJ over 8m on a regular basis. That doesn’t mean somebody shouldn’t try to improve, but that numbers alone are a tiny portion of the whole program.
