FWI Steak is not easily digestable. Protein is pretty pointless between days. Much rather flood my body with carbs which are essential to your performance the next day.
Protein + carbs is research proven to enhance recovery to a far greater extent than carbs or protein alone. I’d imagine a steak eaten by 8pm should quite easily be digested for a 7 or 8am start the following morning. Plus steak dinners consistently come up as one of the healthiest options at restaurants because there are no mystery sauces full of fat and sugars, and they typically come with some unprocessed veggies (baked potato and veggies).
My college routine.
– Ice Bath and start working my way through the big jug (Gallon) of gatorade. Refuel and preplenish. Protein is just to hard for your body to digest after a long day. You taxed it for 4-6 hours…why make it work hard to breakdown food too
Order pizza 1 large pizza to the room
– full of carbs and jump starts your flatlined blood sugar levels
– But isn’t pasta better: Yes but there is nothing better than laying in bed watching TV and not sitting in a booth or going to a restaurant. Much lower stress.
You do know that cheese is one of the harder products to digest? Add peperoni on that pizza and you up fat content 2-3 fold and fat is just as hard or harder to digest and clear the body than lean proteins.
– The gallon of gatorade keeps going until I finish it…usual alittle after dinner
I actually think that’s carb overload…especially considering the pizza. If it works for you that’s good but you’re overestimating the need for carbs here unless you have some kind of metabolic disorder. Electrolytes? Sure! More carbs than usual? Sure! Fluids? Sure! 500 grams of carbs (300+ of which are sugars)? INSANE!
Your goal in this type is to decrease stresses on the body and I always felt money for day two. Forget a shakeout. That is ridiculous. Again…you have just added more stress to your athlete.
Agree here. No need for pre-meet shakeout before day 2.
