I typically went with high protein foods – but almost always got a huge plate of french fries between days as well. Drank a boat load of gatorade, as well.
During decs, I would do a mix of water and red bull (IE – half can of Redbull with 16 oz water. Would drink that pretty much all day. For food during days, typically:
Oatmeal (with milk) in the morning, then light eating between events – energy bars were my favorite, especially something with some protein, like MetRx.
After day 2, forget recovery – give me the pizza and beer!
