i'm thinking of adding a plyometrics to go with speed work on monday, just before lifting weights.
but would this be too much? or should i leave plyometrics out until the spp phase?
It shouldn't be a problem at all…just be sure to keep the total volume in check and if it's your introduction to plyos (for the year or otherwise) keep the intensity relatively low.
also, i was wondering if squat jumps are considered as plyometrics?
This kinda depends on the load that you use. Heavier loads and slower movements would cease to be plyometric in nature.
