Lets we address what the term Power means here.
As in what is its expression? Are we talking about power over an event’s duration? single ground contact power? Power over 200m is 20 someodd seconds while power in a single grounding maybe less than .2 seconds? The 2 extremes are trained differently. “20 second Power” training is Energetic based while “20/100 second Power” is Neural driven/limited.
Thus “20 second Power” training needs focus on Max Strength / Strength Endurance relationship with the cyclical nature of a 200m race’s strides being most specific to Strength Endurance.
“20/100 second Power” is neurally dependant and duration limited so you are talking Plyos at the 300 millisecond mark down to Landings to get below 200 milliseconds.
What is the greatest need or where is the defecit? Clyde Hart trains his 200m guys in the endurance end of the Power Pool while mear mortals usually need to swim in the shallow end of the pool first.
I’m speaking to explosive power, such as explosive starts, early acceleration, jumps etc. I don’t usually use the terms ‘power or strength’ as alluding to endurance, although I have seen others, such as Clyde, use the terms that way. It confuses most people to talk about strength as it relates to finishing a 200m race. I don’t mind the terms used that way if they include the ‘endurance’ suffix, i.e., speed endurance, strength endurance, power endurance.
