An interesting read on governance.
As a non-U.S. citizen I can not help but relate it to other political events within the United States.
It looks like the system of “checks and balances” that are always needed are not necessarily in place. A prime non-sport example, to me, would be the current VP idea that his office can more or less act however it wants with impunity since there appears to be nothing within the law that says it can not.
If the USOC has the power to “disbar” “independent” national sport bodies for not following the USOC mandate all had better hope there is some portion somewhere to balance that or any appearance of independence will be lost.
If group “A” has effective control over what group “B” does, “B” can then not be blamed if they are following what “A” said and it blows up in both their faces. Though we all know it is “B” that will be the scapegoat.
