Military and Athlete training are not so dissimilar, but several distinct differences exist. Military personnel should maintain an elite fitness profile at all times outside of combat deployment, especially those in Ground Combat Elements and Special Operations. Granted there are those who don’t in the military. Elite Athletes should have a periodized training schedule. Under combat conditions fitness deteriorates as fatigue takes it toll and the body operates under heavy loads of endocrine stimulation up to 10-15 times a day while on the other hand during the competitive season an elite track athlete might experience such endocrine stimulation 10-15 times in a single season unless it is given in artificial doses. Some people don’t understand the vast difference in the application of will to do your job and do it right over and over in a given day over a period of 6-9 months when doing it wrong may cost you your life or your buddies and even doing it right may do so as well. The elite athlete doesn’t have that drain so fitness and fatigue are controlled. Don’t train like you are in the military if you want your athletes to be good over the long haul. You can get some great short-term rewards from military like training, but it is impossible to mimic the environmental stressors without using PEDs to get the greatest rewards.
