remember KIDS DON"T TRAIN, THEY PLAY
Not if they want to be a champion they don't. If they want to be the best, they better be putting in at least 20 hours of hard training a week by the time they're 10. If they don't hit this benchmark they might as well quit the sport. On a more serious note, college recruiters prefer athletes who HAVEN"T trained super hard but still run fast. This indicates that the athlete has a lot of room for improvement.
