Actually, soccer cleats or indoor soccer shoes would have been my other recommendation. When do you need to know by? I can test both spikes and cleats, I don't have any waffles, but the waffle sole was probably one of the greatest innovations in track history, because it introduced the concept of a spikeless spike mainly for distance runners, but nevertheless it provided a means to grip the track for force application. How it applies to surface that's supposed to be like grass but isn't really I don't know. For a 40yd dash the difference between no traction and traction can mean .2-.3s with a minor slippage, with no slip occurring probably only .1-.2s. I once track timed at 4.6, grass timed at 4.9s w/ a slip, and astro timed in 4.6 with indoor soccer shoes all hand held of course.
