day 2- intensive tempo hills 10x100m-200m
day 3-rest
day 4- acc dev – same as monday after 5 weeks you should be able to progress to max v
day 5- extensive tempo of 2000m + GS circuit
day 6- intensive tempo 2x4x150m
day 7- restweights on days 1-4-6
Too much intensive tempo, way too much. No need for him to start max v work in gpp, he has a ton of prep time to work on max v.
if it was just a summer program aimed at developing speed because he does a tempo based program at school would you still be against going into maxv
Tough question, D1 or D3 athlete, goals etc. The summer is such a short time period, probably lean towards 4 weeks of GPP then 8 weeks of SPP type of work. The GPP would be very similar to the early format and the SPP would lean towards two high intensity days. If you only take off 10-12 days then you could jump back into your regular program with a few changes.
