What is the difference in doing a session of, for example, 15m flys with a 20m run-in, and 35m from blocks?
I would think that the former is more neural energy depleting and require perhaps a greater recovery cycle in-session than the latter. Only when the latter (at that distance) is applied with resistance have I found it somewhat close to fly-ins with respect to recovery needs.
How are they similar? How are they different? What benefits do you get from each?
Certainly, as been mentioned, departure angles differ somewhat – soft run-in v. explosive movements from blocks. Would not levels of relaxation also be seen as a point of focus allowing for smooth transition during onset to maxV and during several efficient gaits in the fly zone?
