If you aren't making technical progress with the hitchkick I think the hang is a nice option. There are plenty of jumpers who've jumped VERY far using this method. I think it is slightly less efficient at controlling forward rotation in flight than a well performed hitch kick but the loss is minimal and may be non-existant if you weren't performing the hitch kick optimally. Because the hang is more simple it provides the benefits of less learning /mastery time and also consistency.
