I actually do the same but when looking at what I refer to as ‘case studies’ I look at them from the perspective of why did this one happen and all the others not. In many cases, especially when there’s refuting scientific research against there methods, it seems (at least from a skeptics perspective) that an athlete may have succeeded in spite of their training methods. The other thing to factor in, especially in individual athlete sports, is the success syndrome….when a coach gets an XYZ who is very successful, they are likely to get other athletes who want to be just like XYZ. This happens all the time at the collegiate level.
