You are a guy that speaks on injuries and that makes me feel uncomfortable. I don’t want to accuse you of something so I respectfully wish to share that in the past, many people have used materials others have worked on and shared them for their benefit. I know two MDs and three PTs have felt the effects of other people presenting on their work. You speak often unless there is another Jason Roe speaking on sports injuries and therapy on the interwebz,I will review what Carson and you have brought up in a case study in a week or so as I am picking up another athlete from the airport today. Perhaps you are a good guy trying to share information to help people and athletes, but I must look at some of the other coaches spending nearly an unending amount of time doing things others are not willing to, and in minutes of a well written post that information is quickly shared to those that can benefit from. Not saying you are going to take anything or that people I know have secret information, I just know capitalism breeds the good and ugly. So I will share some information so long as it’s properly cited.
Carson- I was at a clinic observing knee drives done by a Strength Coach (intern) and the picture illustrates some bone anatomy finds dorsiflexion problematic. This is not years but months so yes I don’t agree. It may be fine for some.
As for the exercise I showed on youtube (this is why I don’t like listing exercises) it’s gentle and prescribed by the team of people, not by some intern.
“Still closed chain, but perhaps lower forces. ”
Perhaps? I can put my hand on a foot and act as ground contact. I am being very confrontational as I am wondering what experience you have had over the years doing such treatments. I am honest and give credit to the therapists I work with as I find it interesting but rarely speak about it, only when I see flagrant lies. For example we can look to rosters of various pro sports and see if certain procedures are working and various programs are causing sports hernias or “adductor pulls”. If I make a DVD called the “groin guard” or “tuff cuff” it should be based on spans of careers not the acute results I may or may not get. I often share when I fail to do things because I used what was thought to be correct and accepted and only speak up and raise my hand when people find that the ART move on the hip flexor resulted in 24 hours later the same problem. 8 minute magic?
The only test I care about is the Mortac test. If he does it and it works I can sleep at night. He is jaded, and constantly cynical and I love it. No love for gimmicks as he looks at reality. Often he will say things that will ruin the holy scriptures of training as he will point to athletes in history not doing something and succeeding or doing something and still succeeding. The same thing goes for therapy. Right now we are at the point that Strength Coaches are speaking on injuries or other matters with no evidence of truth.
Give me a few weeks and something small and useful.
