TSCM is right. You can see how the current success of elite athletes and their coaches influenced me. More importantly I shared my visits. I am just a regular guy that realizes that a bunch of people have been exposed to the same problems and I don’t need to reinvent the wheel. If you notice all the coaches above have been influenced themselves and modified what they like. I am not as smart as Charlie, talented as Dan, or experienced as Franno. All I can do is talk to other coaches, and explore ideas if I don’t have an answer. I think about what I am doing but I can’t come up with answers by myself all the time. Perhaps down under you have been able to do that and I commend you. I have not taken some baseball kid and did 16×2 on the platform with cleans so I can get him ready for pitching 7 innings. What I do like is that the coaches have done a lot of trail blazing for me to benefit without going through the same pain from trial and error.
The purpose of this track is to learn from others and perhaps the field will evolve. One limit is that each year is an experiment and you have to wait and see what works and modify what you think you can do better. One gift is that others are trying to help other athletes at the same time and the entire field can get better by sharing the changes and see if you come to the same conclusions.
I don’t have the guts to go all out with speed work like Charlie, limit bike sprinting like Dan, feel comfortable with just grass like Franno, so I must leverage what others have done and see how much that information can apply to me when I may have different variables.
