You want evidence that the Brits love their weights? Ok, here’s my evidence here – http://www.sherlockholmes.co.uk/fukoff. I crack myself up
It doesnt matter if he trains once or 5x a week in the gym. Im saying these strength levels are not needed to sprint fast, as seen 100’s of times and especially with the new breed of super sprinters. Theres only a year and a half left until London and i would bet being a better weightlifter wont help him get a medal.
So what, he shouldnt try when he is in the gym? The guy is a genetic freak in terms of strength and build. He cleaned 170kg because:
a) He has exceptional technique
b) He has exceptional genetic strength.
Those strength levels are not needed to be fast, I agree. But I fail to see how by doing this, without any focus on “getting big” is making him slower. Glen Mills, Bolt’s coach, said in an interview somewhere that part of the reason Bolt started running so fast in the last 2 years is because he started to take the weight room seriously.
I think people get caught up on the “Usain Bolt does X, there I must do X”. Bolt is an exception to the rule, not the rule.
