Was just looking at this old post and thought I would ask pretty much the same question. I have a high school freshman girl that has heptahlete written all over her, and was going to start training her as a multi-eventer immediately. What does everyone think of this weekly setup:
Monday – accel. development, HJ approaches, Shot Put
Tuesday – tempo, technical work
Wednesday – MaxV or Speed Endurance, Shot Put
Thursday – technical work, general strength
Friday – approaches (HJ and/or LJ)
Thoughts?
Also, Mike, I read somewhere that you’d work on the throws on your technical day. Aren’t the throws considered high CNS/intensity?
IMO – Throws at the level most HS and even most multis do them are relatively easy on the body, even done at effort.
I feel like you need at least 1 more day of tempo on Thursday or Friday. I’d make sure you get Javelin technical work in there, as this is a common weakness.
