As soon as I feel in love with the sport 24 years ago, I started reading everything I could find on Track and Field – from biographies to training manuals, technique guides, videos, etc. Conservatively spent several hours a week through junior high and high school watching videos of elite performances – but also found a lot of utility watching videos of sub-elite performances – not to necessarily try to mimic their technique, but to consider the role that genetic limitations have on what we can do. IE – I may not have the strength and elasticity to mimic Usain Bolt’s running mechanics, but may have more in common and be able to benefit from cues I see demonstrated by 11.0 runners.
Interviewed a lot of athletes and coaches, forums – I like ET, Speedendurance, Charlie Francis, to name a few.
