What were the exercises they used Jeremy doe hip flexors?
Elastic tubing attached to ankle, arms holding support in front. Leg pulled forward from a straight leg to a bent leg – similar to the early stages of sprinting.
2 sets of 10 and a third set to failure, 30 seconds rest between sets.
3 x week for 8 weeks
Resistance increased when third set gets to 20 reps
Blazevich (Brunel University) has used cable pull-throughs but I did not include those results for comparison because he did not use a control group but instead compares two or more exp groups.
PS this only has a significant effect within the first 10m. However we can’t discount the effect of hip flexor strength for the swinging leg in the long jump.
