Doing the 4×100, 100m, 200m, and LJ at the Oregon Invite. Not exactly what I want to do the week before my decathlon but should be a really fun meet.
It’ll be a good speed workout that’s for sure. With only 2 lift sessions next week I think you’ll be fine. I think the 2 x 10 hour bus rides are what you’ll have to watch out for the most.
Its just a dual meet between us, Oregon, Kansas State, and Indiana. Only two people per team can score points in each event so it will kind of decrease Oregon’s distance dominance. I think it would be good for track if there were more meets like this and it will only take 2 hours to be TV and spectator friendly.
There was actually an attempt to do this about 8-10 years ago. Meets were televised regionally and they were all these quadrangular ‘dual’ meets with limited entries. It forced teams to be complete teams to win. Teams were even nationally ranked using power rankings of their top 2 in each event. The concept never really took hold though.
Leave tomorrow for the 10hr drive and then compete Saturday.
10 hour bus rides for track are one of the things I will never miss about collegiate track and field. Make sure you get in some good mobility work at rest stops and especially when you arrive for entire posterior chain and quads.[/quote]
Did what you said, I feel better than I thought I would. And I hate the long rides too but luckily it was just in a mini van, the team is actually traveling via airplane I just got put in the van because the coaches were drivng for some reason and thought Id wanna go with them because I have occasional problems with planes. Head coach brought his 10 yr old though, thought about opening the side door and just diving out many times.
