John,
Was just going through my own training routine based on Mike’s feedback that I need to do more technical work (definitely right) and got to thinking about yours.
I see almost zero vault work in there, despite vault being a real weakness.
Are you keeping your vaulting a secret and getting ready to bust out a 4.90, or is that just not a focus? Seems like with your speed and jumping, you are in a perfect position to get on a 5m/165 pole and get over 4.60++.
As a 155# “female” multi-eventer, I’m sure there are some good poles out there for you to use 🙂
Matt
hahah actually I think im at 146lbs right now! I usually get on the 15 170 or the 15 175, I am just terrified of the event so Im not holding out, just gonna wait until next year to really go after it. I just hate waiting in line with the vaulters for 15 minutes to take one jump so I just stay consistent in my 14+ clearances. I dont get nearly enough technical work in any of my events just because of facilities and weather here so thats why next year im looking to score big.
You can follow my results of this meet https://www.byutrack.com/various/Special/Meet_Info/2008-9/Robison/index.htm. I had a first day pr of 3975 but left a ton of points on the table so thats a good sign, but too bad for today. I think mike’s weight training has really influenced things though. I was still able to run a 10.86 in a nice -1.9 w. And pr in 49.30 400m feeling fine afterward. I usually am dead after that event, but my weights and coach having me do a little more general conditioning have helped. Also got 2.10 hj so now i dont have to worry about qualifying for regionals
Gonna bust out a 4.90 PV tomorrow though for you Matt and Eric!
