Out of curiosity, Mike, why so many sets of 1 rep with short rest on the clean?
This has pretty much been answered already but I use it as a means of developing a semi-specific (as in power) work capacity without actually introducing undue fatigue or turning the exercise in to an endurance activity. The intermittent rest periods permit good focus, good bar speed, and reduce any feelings of dead-leggedness (which has little place in a jumping plan). I’ve used it with great success with other acceleration dominant athletes (bobsledders, jumpers, footballers). I’ve had several guys get over 20 reps (after a longer progression) with 90% of their max and walk away from the workout feeling fresh.
