Wedneday September 24th…
Today was final day ofr testing for this cycle. Just 2 tests and some training, here they are…
Short warm up
static and dynamic flex
Various sprint drills
DEP squat TEST – 340 lbs (+30 lbs)
STJ TEST – 9.50m (+10cm)
3×4 DB bench
2×8+8 slow SL eccentric calf raises
6x20m hill sprints
So, lessons learn’t today. A few. Firstly, i am pretty good and acurate at convincing myself i can lift something for a few days before i do it, and then go a do it. I predicted and had been thinking of a 270 clean and 340 squat for about a week now. And, i did it. I can do this with things that dont require much technical elements or variability. This doesn’t tend to work well with other things that do require a high tecnical element. For example, today i was chasing 10m in the STJ. i was fighting to get it. My PR is 9.80m, but i still don’t know why after 4 weeks of training i was only thinking of 10m, which is damn far. This made me suck big time today. Yes, i improved 10cm on 4 weeks ago, but everything about my attempts were terrible. I faught for the biggest standing long jump part of the test, thinking i needed this in order to get 10m, but this just made it impossible for me to actually hop out of it, thus making my second phase bad. And, i was trying to reach so far ahead of my COM for my landing to get to 10m, that each time i ended up falling backwards, because clearly on a STJ i do not have enough momentum going forwards.
So, sorry for the essay, but the lesson here is, when you are TRYING so HARD to achieve a DISTANCE in any kind of jump, more often than not you jump less than you are capable of jumping. Just let it flow!
and with that being said, here’s the quote of the day from the Tao Te Ching,
“One who lives in accordance with nature does not go against the way of things,
He moves in harmony with the present moment, always knowing the truth of just what to do”
