Thank a lot.
Yeah maintainence doesn’t take a lot. What UT suggested would work.
Although, this has worked for me in the past and kinda go against what Mike’s system is i believe. But, 3-4sets x 4-6reps @70% performed fast for a period of 4-6 weeks during comptition not only develops power and explosive strength but it actually IMPROVES max strength without having to lift heavy at all. Great for competition period.
I actually have used something similar before and it falls in line fine with my general protocols but I’ve moved away from it because I feel that the volume is relatively high and the intensity is actually greater or equivalent to the workout that Nick did on Wednesday. Despite the load being lower the fact that it’s moved with the intent to go as fast as possible essentially makes it a 100% intensity. Combined with the 21 to 28 reps I’ve found that higher load, lower volume combined with a couple plyo contacts works better. In the protocol that Nick did on Wed for example, there’s really only about 3 reps at any kind of above moderate load and only 15 reps total in the entire workout.
To answer the earlier question though 3 x 3 @ 85% is more of a developing workout than a maintenance workout. That would fit well 4 weeks out from peak comps but not the week of.
