As I do most of my comps within Europe, I have little experience of jet lag and performance. The only 2 times Ive had to overcome this is for the 2007 Worlds in Japan, and 2008 OG in China, with an eight and seven hour time difference. The big thing for me is sleep, which you say isnt for you.
I guess to try and overcome it quickly you should just ease yourself into the new routine, for example gradually get up earlier and earlier when you come over here, and go to bed earlier and earlier, and try to eat meals at the regular time. The big thing we were told to do was avoid natural and artificial light early mornings for the first few days, and train in the afternoon as opposed to the morning (which I usually do). Hope that helps!
Hey Craig,
My performances always seem drastically different from my USA performances when i come home. So yes i think i do suffer a lot with it. Not from a sleep standpoint but its tends to take 5+ days for my legs to feel normal.
Any tips for me?
