It seems to work well, I think when combined with the almost-weekly competitive efforts the qualities are maintained well enough to sustain the high quality speed endurance work that is more important at that time of the year.
At what point do you guys consider intensive tempo to become speed end?
Following would definitely be Intensive Tempo – 6×200 80% with 3min rest.
As described by Pfaff, and I think Mike does it this way as well – For Speed End move from volumes and rest intervals above (Int tempo) to decreasing volume and increasing rest intervals (1×150,1×200 with 15-20min rest in final comp period).
At what point (what rest interval, etc.) are you guys considering this to become speed endurance?
Would you recommend, if the base of true intensive tempo is not there, to go straight to speed endurance?
