I am based in Liverpool (though i run for Ireland), you American’s will have heard of it obviously with the Beatles being massive over there haha 😛
Facilities here are basic, but at least I have an indoor track to warm up in during these cold winter months, could be worse. Its hard to find good, accesible gyms with free weights however, at an affordable price … then the need for a spotter etc. My ‘coach’ doesnt arrange weights sessions, I went to see another coach and he got me onto weights but they were machine weights so i swerved that (he’s good for running technique though).
I train within a talented group; one of the lads I do sprints with is the World Youth silver medalist over 110m hurdles, also have the Heptathlon champion training with us for running, and a 47.2 400m runner. In relation to weights they get Strength and Conditioning for free off either UK Athletics or their University in the case of the 400m runner … so obviously I cannot join in with them.
The qualifying time for 200 is 21.54 – if I managed to get that I would obviously be ecstatic – but I dont plan to run a 200 after May.
