If I didnt need a paycheck training would be so much simpler.
Boy howdy!
I tried to keep up with training with a crazy full time job right after school… and it didn’t happen. After 6 years of starting to train and dropping it again because of work and two years of really focusing on training (fitting workouts into lunchtime or breaking up workouts into pre and post work… and dealing with the ridicule of my co-workers for wearing tights) I finally got back to a wind-legal sub-22 seconds in the deuce. It’s worth the effort.
Stick with it. Fit in the workouts when you can. It’s tiring, it’s a pain in the butt, but it’s worth it.
I probably could have been a 20.something 200m runner, but I let work get in the way. I may still have three or four years to get there… but who knows? If you want it and it’s still fun, chase it while you can.
