The closest for the eccentric loading is db swings or drop-catch RDLs.
As a side note, why would a box be necessary for db swings? I've never had any problem with limited range of motion so this wouldn't seem to be necessary.
It feels tougher on the box. As you know it allows you to go a bit deeper. Try it and see if you feel the difference.
For my basketball players that are over 6'4 with long arms the box is a necessity.
