Speed at the moment of takeoff is far and away the primary indicator for success in all of the horizontal jumps. Takeoff angle is important but more so for its effect on takeoff velocity. That is, attempting to jump too high will result in lower takeoff velocities. On the flip side, jumping at too low of a takeoff angle will result in very high takeoff velocities but won’t permit the flight time to travel very far.
