The guy obviously had great speed because he was the 2000 OT champ in the LJ.
I was actually sitting several feet away for that competition and it was amazing. The atmosphere was incredible. After the competition, people were talking about that jump and Davis's 'woulda-coulda-shoulda' world record + foot drag. It was probably the best TJ competition other than ATL 96.
Lister seemed to defy physics on that jump. I've never seen someone recover from such over-rotation in flight to still get a decent jump takeoff. Definitely not model technique in any regards.
