My word I’m just amazed so many on here think the likes of Bolt, Gay and all others who run sub 9.90 aren’t taking shit…i see many high school kids on a daily bases who use stuff or know someone who does and you think the no.1 athletes in the no.1 sport which is determined by physical ability only and who have tons on money DON’T ? ? ? ? ? ? ? it’s just so stupid.
I think I have said this before, but: I used to train with someone who, at 5 foot 8 and 75kgs, ran under 10 seconds. He wasnt especially lean, he wasnt especially strong, he didnt have especially good mechanics, his diet wasnt particularly good, he didnt train all that hard.
If he could do it, I dont find it that hard to believe that someone who has a stride length about 20cm longer, with good mechanics etc could run a bit faster.[/quote]
Hell, I didn’t do anything in high school aside from play video games, martial arts twice a week, and skateboarding. Then when I was 18 my first 100 I ever ran I went 10.7 hand timed with a few around 11.0 to 11.1 FAT afterward.
Its genetics. If Jesse owens could go 10.2 on cinder, and Bob Hayes could go 10.08 and split in the 8’s in the 4×100, I find it hard to believe that there aren’t naturally gifted athletes today who can go as fast or faster with today’s training and track technology.
Hell, I’m slow compared to pros but I get accused all the time by people I beat in the college circuit because they can’t seem to accept that by some random chance my genetics are better suited to sprinting than theirs are.
Anytime there is money and fame involved, people will try to cheat to the top, but that doesn’t mean everyone who competes at the top is dirty.
