… Has anyone tried not running ext. tempo for short sprinters? I think it would be more beneficial to do the GS work but would the runners mentally be able to do without it?
I believe it has a lot to do more with the athlete. At TMSSF, we had some sprinters that responded better with extensive circuit and body rotation work on recovery days, as opposed to repeat 600y ET runs , for example.
However, the former activities are performed extensively (e.g., shuttles, rotations, transition work). No hallway running or winter outdoor runs!
