How long before your first meets should off season training begin, I mean like practice meets that are about 6-8 weeks away from the major track meet of the 1st phase of the season?
To keep motivation and interest during offseason training what tests are there that can be done (100-800,lj,tj athlete)?
My coach has his own timing gates.
Can short sprint tests be done or should all tests be longer, eg, 300 or 600?
Can you run on an outdoor track during winter? (flats i'd presume)
Alot of teams start as soon as school starts. So start in Sept planning for a big indoor meet in early March.
You can do standing long jump, vertical jump, standing triple jump, 5 bound, 10 bound, shot throws, weight room maxes, etc.
Timing gates are always nice.
Your sprint tests will probably depend on how your training is laid out.
Yes you can run on an outdoor track during winter as long as the conditions are bearable.
