I like what Josh said…I was about the same weight/height in high school and it maybe a tough decision to make about what sport (track/football) because with your combination of height/weight for one, track, given the events you talk about, you are “close” to limits, if there are such things (better, that you could of course have success but those body statistics you would be an “outlier”) AND for the other, football, you will need to be heavier.
The other thing that may happen, you maybe a bit too young yet to know with certainty, but you maybe one of those individuals who when they start lifting/strength training seriously may gain mass and weight almost just by looking at weights, I added 20lbs in the last 2 years of HS while dropping percentage of body fat and if this turns out to be you, then you will always need to be aware of it if track (100/200/400) become your events. I continued to run those same 3 events but became a much better thrower (shot/discus) as the body size and weight there could be used to advantage.
Drop weight right now? Not sure, “control” body weight could be a better term, you could end up doing strength training and “leaning out” and still have a really good mix of endurance, strength, power.
“control” your body weight, well put. Power to weight ratio. How much of your 200 lb. frame is working for you, and what is just along for the ride. Have a good total body strentgh balance. As far as chasing scholarships, just train smart and learn from your races to improve as much as you can while maintaining good health. Different coaches look for different qualities. Most all will snag a stud with proven results if they can, but there is more to it than that sometimes. Are you always injured? Did you pop one awesome race, or do you have a history of consistantly running solid times? Would a coach see you as talented with room to improve, or maxed out?
