What a great race. My observations:
*Mo got a nice start and accelerated about as well as I’ve seen him.
*On the flip side (and possibly related?) Mo definitely looked like he was falling apart in the last 5-10m.
*Sean Crawford is a technical mess and I’m sure his shenanagans in the rounds cost him a medal. His acceleration looks , his hips are low at top end speed, his feet get out in front of him. Also, I noticed in the final that he doesn’t run very symetrically. The problem seemed to originate in his hips. I don’t know if this was a product of accumulated fatigue and / or stress from the rounds or if its something he always does but I’ve failed to notice. Has anyone else noticed this? Perhaps it was the camera angle but I don’t think so.
*Asafa Powell never looked relaxed at all.
*Gatlin seemed to run a very technically sound race. I’d love to see his 10m splits from 60m on. He seemed to really have a burst at about 60 or 70m that separated him from the pack.

I’m not that suprised…. in watching the rounds I didn’t think Gatlin would win… but if you look at the film and study the splits from the Trials final you can see that Mo was very fortunate to have held on….. he doesn’t have the same top end/speed endurance/relaxation abilities as he did in 1998-2001.thinks of Capel as a great sprinter even he is the 200m WC.
Really? His times don’t seem to reflect a dropoff. If this is the case what accounts for the fact that he is basically running as fast as he ever has….. better acceleration?
