Volume drops off over the 2-3 cycles of comp phase and we 'peak' with a final 7-10 day taper. I try to set up my athletes so that they can compete at a very high level for the last 2-4 weeks of the season rather than attempting to 'peak' for one meet. This way we don't miss the peak as happens so often when everything is set up for one or two precise days of competition.
how do u make sure they can compete at a very high level in those earlier weeks but still training hard for the 7-10 day peak? do u just back off the volume a lil?
