The reason I said before that it depends on what you're doing in the program is because you can really handle it equally succesful either way. I've personally found weights are the easiest way to delay or control a peak but speed endurance work is also very important in this regard. I personally don't back off too much on the loads during the competitive phase weights. In fact, they generally stay fairly high. I can control physical readiness by manipulating the volume and picking appropriate exercises that complement what we are doing on the track and what we are trying to accomplish.
how do you delay peaking by weightlifting? and speed endurance can stagnate peaking how? I would think it can make you peak faster..no?
