It's easy to delay the peak by manipulating the weight room volumes and intensities. Because they are so much more tangible than sprint volumes and intensities (not all types of speed are equal) I've found I can control the variables to get the desired effect. In a nutshell, if leave the volume at around 70% of the peak volume for the year you'll be able to delay the peak. Once you start reducing volumes much more than that the athlete will start to peak. It's just one of many ways at your disposal to control the taper and peaking process.
