if i were you i wouldn't worry too much about the discrepancy, remember your goal is not to directly correlate across the board, it is specific to middle distance/distance running. The only speed elements you really need are change of pace ability (very short work like the bounding and acceleration work), and sustainable speed (400m time). Even those are needed in a limited capacity, as the overarching goal is 1600m time (or whatever is your main event). Look at the demands of your event and build from there, as Renato Canova says "Training is not the question, but the answer to the question" The question is how can i run X time for X distance. Also, look at the timing of the tests coming off a cross country season its not unordinary to be slightly deficient in speed. thats my $.02
